Politi: NBC is living in 1980 with its tape delay nonsense | Olympics blog – – NJ.com The Olympics | News, Schedule, Results, More
This is not 1980. I’ve given up counting ways I could have heard or read about what happened on that mountain. Twitter. Facebook status updates. This newspaper Web site and about 40,000 others. Blackberry alerts. The old-fashioned box in the corner of the room called a “radio.” The scrawl on the bottom of the TV screen. NBC’s own Web site, even!
You’d have to lock yourself in the basement not to know that Vonn, the Sports Illustrated cover girl, triumphed over her shin injury and lived up to those massive expectations. About the only place you can’t see it is NBC, which is spending roughly $400 trillion dollars for the rights to keep it from you for six hours.
